THE HARNESS LAB

Connect the tools behind the work

API integrations that carry the business process between systems.

The Harness Lab connects permitted business APIs, data sources and applications so your team can move from a request to a reviewed result with less manual re-entry.

Discuss an integration

Define what should move, and which system owns it

An integration begins with the event and the record: a new enquiry, an approved document, an updated customer record or a report ready for review. We define the source of truth, the fields to map and the conditions that permit the next step.

Projects can connect a website intake, customer database, document store, internal dashboard or reporting process. Feasibility depends on the provider's supported APIs, account permissions, limits and commercial terms.

Common integration work

Design for repeated events and partial failure

A webhook may arrive twice. A request may time out after the destination has already accepted it. A field may change shape. The integration needs a clear response to those cases so retries do not silently create duplicate records or conflicting updates.

We define validation, operation identity, permitted retries and the information an operator needs to reconcile uncertain outcomes. The engineering notes describe these design questions in more detail.

Choose a connector, automation or custom application

A straightforward supported connector may be enough for a simple handoff. More complex work can require a workflow automation or a custom internal tool that exposes decisions and exceptions to the team. We scope the simplest implementation that meets the operating requirements.

What to bring to the first conversation

Name the source and destination systems, the event that starts the work, the fields that move, approximate volume and the result a person needs to review. Bring provider documentation and redacted sample field names where possible. Keep passwords, API keys and confidential records out of the initial enquiry.
